The success of the official introduction of The Rosary for Children, The Rosary for Youth, and the Stations of the Cross to the American scene through an invitation to attend the 2002 Unity Awards extended by the United Catholic Music and Video Association, comes as no surprise to those who are familiar with these recordings.

That invitation was given to the Western Australian creators of the recordings - Brenda Croft and Jenny Knight.

Australian Catholics and many Christians throughout the world have long recognised the great appeal of these three productions, which were made in Perth beginning with The Rosary for Children back in May 1998.

It was a whirlwind tour for Brenda and Jenny who during their several days in Washington DC and Alabama, distributed their promotional kits including CD’s and information to media, many local and international figures attending the Awards plus staff and guests at Mother Angelica’s EWTN network studio.

Here they were interviewed for the Bookmark program.

Brenda and Jenny were invited to attend the United Catholic Music and Video Association’s annual Unity Awards on 26 October 2002 held in Washington DC because their production The Rosary for Youth was a finalist in one of the categories, and they themselves were presenters.

Among their many highlights, they count the “overwhelming welcome we received as Australians when we were given the singular honour of presenting the first four category Awards.”

In the audience of several hundred were also dignitaries from the Church as well as representatives from the US Congress, the European Union, and many involved in the music and media industries.

Although Brenda and Jenny did not win their category on this occasion, they considered it was “a fantastic opportunity” to introduce to the people at large through numerous media interviews, including speaking to over a hundred school children, the outstanding attributes of their three recordings.

Describing as “inspiring” the work and quality of the UCMVA, whose mission is to spread God’s message of unity, love and evangelisation through authentic Catholic music and video, Brenda and Jenny are also excited by the professional high standard of the artists and their recordings.

“While there, we were exposed to an incredible depth of talent of artists from all over the world coming through, who performed at the Awards, including an Australian band who won the International Album of the Year category.

Through all this, Brenda and Jenny stated, with the talent and commitment they were exposed to, “we believe the Holy Spirit is really moving in an extraordinary way in all different artistic fields, and there is much hope and inspiration for the Catholic Church.”

Attending also was Dana Scallon, who won the Eurovision Award many years ago, and has since gone on to record numerous religious music CD’s including the Rosary and Stations of the Cross.

According to Brenda and Jenny, she appeared however very burdened with her responsibilities as the Irish representative on the European Union.

And asked specifically if they would ask their fellow Australians to pray fervently for God’s strength to continue her fight against the current spiritual warfare attacking Ireland and Europe in relation to abortion, human cloning, stem cell research, euthanasia, and all allied issues sacred to the Catholic Faith.

Prior to their USA trip, the Holy Father released his new document on the Rosary where he added five new Mysteries of Light, and proclaimed October 2002 to October 2003 as the Year of the Rosary.

Now revitalised from their tremendous experiences, Brenda and Jenny are already working on adding the new Luminous Mysteries to The Rosary for Children and The Rosary for Youth, which will be available by the end of January 2003.

They are also working on their next inspired production The Rosary for Families due for release by the middle of next year.

OUR LADY AND THE MUSTARD SEED

From mustard seed beginnings, a spirit-driven work germinated, bore much fruit, and has now been acclaimed worldwide. I speak of this spirit-filled happening - The Rosary for Children recording.

Two Perth mothers, Brenda Croft and Jenny Knight were inspired by Our Lady to produce the recording, with no expertise and on borrowed money.

While seemingly average housewives with young children, these two amazing women were however extraordinary in their dedication, commitment and absolute faith in following the urging of Jesus and Mary to produce a rosary recording with children praying.

They believed that the power of the rosary is great, but combined with the innocent prayers of children, that this spiritual force would be even greater to combat the ills of a world in turmoil. And ask: “What better way to right wrongs and stabilize a world which has gone mad than praying with children? Because we believe children are the key to unlocking the gates of heaven for an outpouring of grace upon the world.”

Thus in the humble beginnings of a backyard studio, The Rosary for Children was born and consecrated to Our Lady of Fatima on 13th May 1998.

Its immediate success is legendary being quickly scattered in most countries of the world without any publicity machine but spread solely by its own great merits.

As a direct result of The Rosary for Children being taken to Ireland in June 1999, 50,000 Irish school children plus adults, united with others in Australia and some other countries in October that year to pray for world peace.  To date sales are around 100,000.

By popular request for another recording to reach youth, Brenda and Jenny produced The Rosary for Youth (Teens) in May 1999, consecrating it to Australia’s patroness, Our Lady Help of Christians. This is currently a finalist for the 2002 Unity Awards sponsored by the Iowa based United Catholic Music and Video Association.

The Rosary for Youth (Teens) is an incredibly effective way to teach the truths of the Catholic faith interwoven with youth praying all the mysteries of the rosary.

Led by a young priest, it contains powerful messages of truth and direction making it ideal for individual, group, or family prayer.  It is also suitable for schools and adult faith education programs. As with its predecessor, both have original love songs to Mary flowing throughout the recordings.  This release has also achieved amazing success.

Further spiritually motivated, Brenda and Jenny released in February 2001, the equally inspirational Stations of the Cross.

This allows one to walk with Jesus on His Via Crucis as he falls under the weight of the Cross, rises up despite his pain, continues on in agony, and then falls and rises again, and again.

In this mankind equates with Jesus through His demonstration that one must carry their Cross, and despite the falling and the pain, rise up again, shoulder their Cross, and continuously strive to reach the summit of life’s journey mapped for us.

Untouched by the phenomenal success of their three productions, Brenda and Jenny take no credit, but remain motivated on what they believe is their mission to help evangelize a spiritually hungry world which is crying out for God.

In what represents a success story for all Australian Catholics, two Perth mothers of young children have

‘made it to the top!’

Currently arrangements are being made for Brenda Croft and Jenny Knight to appear in October on Mother Angelica’s Eternal Word TV Network in the USA.

They will be speaking on their internationally acclaimed recordings of The Rosary for Children,  The Rosary for Youth, and  Stations of the Cross  which they produced in Perth, Western Australia beginning with The Rosary for Children in May 1998..

To appear on this highly credible and prestigious network is a major coup considering the humble, albeit inspired, beginnings of The Rosary for Children , which achieved almost immediate success worldwide.

Their appearance will take place during the few days of interviews and speaking occasions given by Brenda and Jenny while in the USA primarily in and around the Washington area, as a result of having been invited to take part in the Third Annual Awards night presented by the United Catholic Music and Video Association based in Iowa, USA.

The mission of the UCMVA is to support, encourage and promote the development of all forms of Catholic music and video.   And the purpose of the awards is to recognize those who have demonstrated excellence or significant accomplishments in the field of Catholic evangelisation through music, video and media.

This gala event will be held on the campus of the Catholic University in Washington DC on 26 October 2002.  The Rosary for Youth is a finalist for an award in one of the categories and on this occasion, Brenda and Jenny will also present an award to one of the many attendees who come from around the world.

Responding to a perceived urgent need for prayer to help a deeply troubled world, Brenda and Jenny produced The Rosary for Children because they believe in the intense power of prayer especially through the prayers of innocent children. This, they said,  “combined with the tremendous power of the rosary, was an even mightier tool to bring peace to a universe in crisis.”

It is unique because young children pray the Joyful, Sorrowful and Glorious mysteries, which are interspersed with the narrator recounting and painting a picture of the life of Christ.  This is all woven together with an original love song to Mary with the addition of marvellous sound effects.

Its success is now legendary having spread to a vast number of countries throughout the world.

Subsequently, Brenda and Jenny produced another world-acclaimed winner, the extremely successful The Rosary for Youth in May 1999.  The success of this appealing production lies partly in its ability to impart many teachings of the Catholic Church in a non-confronting way, through a young Catholic Priest, and in the recitation of the 15 decades of the Rosary by Perth youth.

Brenda and Jenny then went on to produce the also successful Stations of the Cross in February 2001which takes the listener on Jesus’ walk to Calvary.  Through this pain-filled falling and rising of Jesus as He shoulders the sins of humanity in His expiating carrying-of-the-Cross on behalf of mankind, one identifies with their own obligatory need to rise again after falling, shoulder their own cross, and resume life’s walk to the end.
